GEICO misspells Ciara’s name. Ouch.

Update, Oct. 25: I checked again today, and it’s fixed. Yay, GEICO!

Update, Oct. 14: Almost a week after I e-mailed GEICO about the misspelling, it’s still up. Tsk, tsk. I know it’s not a huge problem, but can you give the woman enough respect to correct it?

I’ve been hooked on the song from the GEICO “Kash” commercials (it’s called “Somebody’s Watching Me,” a remix by Mysto and Pizzi, if you’re interested). I tried to buy it on iTunes, but couldn’t find it there. So, I ventured to Geico’s Web site, and what do you know, they have it for download there (for free, too).

But, I also noticed that, while talking up Mysto and Pizzi, GEICO made a goof. They misspelled Ciara’s name. The Texas-born pop and hip-hop star is mentioned as one of the big names Mysto and Pizzi have collaborated with. The goof can be seen here. While you’re there, download the song. It’s really quite good.

Ciara

An excerpt from the page follows:

“Mysto & Pizzi are two up and coming producers, ages 21 and 22, hailing out of Queens, New York, who are quickly establishing a name for themselves in the world of Pop and R&B with placement on albums by R. Kelly and Kelly Rowland and projects for Justin Timberlake and Ciarra.”

Emphasis added. The props sound great, but Ciara is spelled with one ‘r,’ not two.

Before you wonder if there is another performer by the name of Ciarra that the two producers have collaborated with, I doubt it. Google “Ciarra Mysto and Pizzi” and all that comes up is this page. Yup, just the Ciara we all know and love, and no Ciarra.

If you are curious, the project the producers did for Ciara, at least the only one I found, is this song. It’s quite catchy.

GEICO’s Gecko needs to invest in a copy editor.
